IGA Supermarket and Haintz Pharmacy – These two businesses support BECS by a token scheme at IGA and a rebate on prescriptions at Haintz.  Members and their families are encouraged to support these businesses by getting the tokens from IGA to place in the BECS container, or signing up at Haintz pharmacy.  The latest total –Feb -from IGA is $2,423.18.

New Members – We are always encouraged when new members join up and we would like everyone to make them feel welcome. This can also include asking them to help on a project, including them in conversations and asking them about their background and work experience.
Becs Clothing – Denis C has a range of clothing items for sale at the office including polo shirts, jumpers, vests and hats.
Honouring The Avenue - This event happened last Sunday the 12 April at the overpass at Burrembeet.  Very windy and hard to keep heat in the hotplate.  Thanks to Ron L, John and Eileen E, Moyle B and Rob F who turned up at just the right time when the rush was on. We have also received thanks from Chatterbox Creative.

IN THE NEWS THIS MONTH. –Photos courtesy of The Ballarat Courier.
Photo 1  showing Ron on the lathe. The fact that he can turn wood without the lathe running could be reason for his smirk. Victorian Minister For Family, Children & Youth Affairs Jenny Mikakos was in Ballarat at BECS to announce a new round of Funding  for Men’s Sheds. This event was also reported on WIN TV news.  Photo 2   A certain Melbourne supporter.  Far right of picture.
Photo 3 shows BECS member Brian B who has been a practising CPA for 50 years. Congratulations Brian and if you don’t know what a CPA is, then ask him.

Life is hard - We have received an e-mail and photo from Ray Atkins. Ray claims the photo is of his MX 5 touring I think in Surrey. As the sun is out and no snow or rain , I think this is a photo he has downloaded from the internet. Both Ray and Liz have jobs and Liz is still helping some students from Federation Uni.

VMSA Meeting in Warrnambool - Less than 100 people attended the last quarterly meeting. Some usefull information including a contact from Wimmera/Mallee Health Network who have developed some policies to help process applications from external groups.  Thanks to Ray and Marj for driving us down in comfort.  Others attending were Ron L and Allan B went down separately.  Photo below on left shows new VMSA President Phil Kelly from The Stamford Men’s Shed and photo on right is Ric Blackburn VMSA Executive Officer. The head in the middle. Don’t know how it got there, who it is or how to get rid of it. I blame WORD.

Is this an act of God, a miracle, theft, an illusion or some other explanation. Well it’s the later.  Somebody offered $200.00 for the lot. Who got the best deal ? Possibly us.

SICK LIST - Please advise Denis C if you hear of any members or family members who are unwell for follow up. Graeme M is still at Hepburn House. Good to see Ken back and helping out at the market. We have just heard that Trevor S is in hospital.  Wishing you a speedy recovery and you can get back soon.

THANK YOU - We have received a letter of appreciation from Down Syndrome Victoria for the donation of wooden children’s furniture.
