The last Bridge Mall market raised $698.00 plus $300.00 for marshalls.  Thanks to Alan A, John and Eileen E, Alan D and marshalls David P, Doug S, Mario F, and Paul T; a top result.
Also this month Ray D did 2 bbq’s at Total Tools in Latrobe St. Thanks to helpers Marj. D, John E and Ron L. for two big days.

IGA Supermarket & Haintz Pharmacy - These two businesses support BECS by a token scheme at IGA and a rebate on prescriptions at Haintz. Members and their families are encouraged to support these businesses and in effect contributing to our fundraising. If you shop at one of the other IGA stores then collect the tokens and we can take them to the collection tins. Likewise consider signing up at Haintz as we are all in the high prescription user group. Latest cumulative total from IGA as at April is $2417.93.

New Members - We keep harping on about welcoming new members. By doing this there is every opportunity for them to be long term contributing members. . If you are out and about then don’t miss the opportunity to ask what men are up to.  Question. How do you become an old member of BECS?  Answer.  Start by being a new member and hanging around. I bet you thought by starting as old!

Two Shed Openings - On Saturday the 16 May The Sebastopol Men’s Shed at 3 Yarrawee Street was opened by Catherine King MP.  Check out a familiar looking heater in the photo. This shed is behind Eclipse Motors and is located in an old wood work shop.

The Buninyong Men’s Shed at Forest Street was opened last Saturday 13 June by Geoff Howard MP. This shed is a new shed on an historical location, The old railway platform.  Many of us who went on Ron’s Shed tour visited earlier in the year. Photo shows a very nicely made wooden rocking horse. Frank Dixon is attending this shed now as it is just around the corner.

Changing Gears Exhibition in Melbourne

Photo 2.  The worlds first Coupe Ute.  Built in 1932 by Ford in Geelong. Designed by Llew Bandt after a women asked for a vehicle to go to Church on Sunday and to take the pigs to market on Monday.

Photo 7.  Holdens most stupid decsion. Concept GTR –X Torana. Canned by the bean counters but still looks very pretty to-day. Only 2 survive.  One is in private hands. I remember seeing this car at The Powerhouse Museum, painted Silver.

“MAN UP”  for Men’s Health Week.  At the Library.
Guest speaker Ex police detective Paul Walsh had an engaging story to tell on his battle with mental health issues. Compare  Rod Quantock brought the jokes, and entertainer Chooka Parker tinkled the ivories. A good night and supper followed.
